Owners

All governance activities require designated owners for the allocated resources. It is of utmost importance to ensure that resources always have assigned owners.

You can specify an email address to receive notifications when a resource is identified with no assigned owners.

Auto-Heal Feature

Auto-Heal is a valuable feature available for shared mailboxes, room mailboxes, and equipment mailboxes. This functionality comes into play when no owners have been designated for a resource, automatically assigning an owner based on the auto-heal configuration.

The auto-heal process begins by verifying if both the primary and secondary owners have been assigned to the resource. If this condition is not met, it proceeds to inspect the full access control permissions list and selects two users from it. If, even after this, no owners are identified, it then scrutinizes the send-as permissions list. If this step also fails to yield a solution, an escalation action is initiated, and notifications are dispatched to the users configured in the escalation section.

Auto-Heal is configured through the Owners policy.

SettingFunction
Full Access ControlWhen enabled, it verifies users with full access control and designates them as owners.
Send As PermissionsWhen enabled, it verifies users with send-as permissions and designates them as owners.
Notify New Owners When AssignedWhen enabled, it sends notifications to inform newly assigned resource owners.

Minimum Owner Policy

The minimum owner policy ensures that a resource has (at least) a specified number of owners. If a resource with fewer owners than specified in the policy is found, the existing owners will be notified and asked to add more owners to the resource. You can specify how many reminders should be sent and what actions should be taken if owners do not react within the desired time frame.

The Create wizard in the EasyLife 365 Mail App ensures that a user adds the minimum number of owners when provisioning a new resource.
